Job summary

Kennametal Inc. is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for Bedford, PA. The role focuses on predictive and preventive maintenance to prevent equipment failures, improve uptime, and reduce costs.

The technician will work the 3rd shift and support engineers with installations and repairs. The position requires 5–10 years of CNC maintenance experience, strong electrical/controls knowledge, and familiarity with SAP-PM and Step 7.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering preferred.
• 5-10 years experience preferred as CNC Maintenance Technician.
• Knowledge of plumbing, pipefitting, pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, seals and electric motors and controls.
• Preferred knowledge SAP-PM and Step 7.
• Knowledge and ability of rigging equipment and components.

Responsibilities

• Has full proficiency in a range of technical processes or procedures through training and experience.
• Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience.
• Typically has specialized external certification.
• Guides and supports junior team members; may assist in their orientation and training.
• Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems (mechanical, electrical).
• Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability and yield.
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems.
• Prepares technical reports to document equipment modifications and maintenance procedures.
• Receive, rig, unload, transport, install, assemble, troubleshoot, and fine tune new/relocated equipment.
• Interface with outside contractors, OEMs and Technology Process Support groups for installs and upgrades.
• Safely handle hazardous materials and hazardous wastes.
• Interface with in-plant CMMS to show status of work.

Maintenance Technician Experienced

Purpose of the position:

Perform predictive/preventive maintenance analysis to anticipate and circumvent equipment failures, enhancing uptime and reducing costs

Knowledge and experience:

• High School diploma or GED;

• Preferred Bachelor’s degree with focus in Electrical or Controls Engineering;

• 5-10yrs years' experience preferred as CNC Maintenance Technician;
• Knowledge of plumbing, pipefitting, pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, seals and electric motors and controls;
• Preferred knowledge SAP-PM and Step 7;
• Knowledge and ability of rigging equipment and components.

• Performs equipment failure analyses (including preventive and unscheduled maintenance);
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems;
• Prepares technical reports to document equipment modifications and equipment maintenance procedures;
• Prepare for new/relocated equipment installations by sizing, wiring, piping, ventilation, etc. according to incoming equipment requirements;
• Receive, rig, unload, transport, install, assemble, troubleshoot, and fine tune new/relocated equipment;
• Troubleshoot and perform necessary repairs on existing equipment;
• Assist engineers in identifying worn or damaged parts that may be needed to complete the repair;
• Interface with and assist outside contractors, OEM's and Technology Process Support groups, in all attempts to install new and repair or upgrade existing processes;
• Safely handle hazardous materials and hazardous wastes;
• Interface with in-plant Computerized Machine Maintenance System to show status of work and time spent on job.
