Job summary

Cook Valley Estates in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our EVS team. This full-time role supports grounds, facility and equipment upkeep, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for residents and staff.

Schedule is 38 hours per week, Monday–Friday 7:30am–4:00pm. You will perform routine maintenance and repairs across plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC components, with emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Prior experience as a maintenance technician.
• Must possess a valid unrestricted state of Michigan driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc.).
• Conduct routine safety checks on door locks, water temperatures, etc.
• Service heating and cooling units/systems per manufacturer and policy.
• Clean and maintain furnishings, fixtures and spaces in resident homes and common areas.
• Provide occasional grounds maintenance and snow/ice management as needed.
• Assist in housekeeping backups and cleaning vacant homes/apartments.
• Set up and take down tables, chairs and equipment for events.

What You’ll Do:

The Maintenance Technician will assist in maintaining the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Join our senior living community where every day you make a difference!

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures.
• Perform routine safety checks of door lock systems, water temperatures, etc. as directed and in accordance with established procedures.
• Service heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by the manufacturer, and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, etc., in resident homes, clubhouse/common areas, offices etc.
• Perform occasional maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, removing snow and salting, etc., as necessary/directed.
• Clean floors, to include sweeping, dust mopping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing disinfecting, etc.
• Provide occasional backup support for housekeeping.
• Clean and sanitize vacant homes/apartments as assigned.
• Set up and take down tables, chairs, equipment for indoor or outdoor functions as directed.
