Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Maintenance Technician I for the night shift. The technician will perform routine and preventative maintenance as well as troubleshoot and repair various systems and equipment. Candidates should have a high school diploma and some related experience. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work independently in a manufacturing plant environment where temperature and noise levels can fluctuate significantly.

Qualifications

  • One or two years of related experience.
  • Basic concepts of algebra and geometry for calculations.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Job description

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I (NIGHT SHIFT)

Summary/Objective: The Maintenance Technician I preforms routine and preventative maintenance and simple repairs for designated equipment and facilities. Preforms a variety of troubleshooting tasks and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor to verify work task and duties.

Education and Experience

  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  2. Basic concepts of algebra and geometry to calculate proportions, percentages, area, volume, etc.
  3. One or two years related experience.

Essential Functions

  1. Knowledge of general maintenance techniques, processes and procedures for the repair, installation and modification of a variety of equipment and systems.
  2. Read and interpret manuals, schematics, blueprints, drawings and other written installation and repair instructions.
  3. Troubleshooting and repair of electric motor control circuits and systems.
  4. Troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  5. Troubleshooting and repair of resistant welding equipment.
  6. Power distribution (480 VAC and below).
  7. Document work performed in maintenance management system.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. First Aid Knowledge.
  2. Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, managers, and senior management in both a verbal and written manner.
  4. Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions and to interpret plans and sketches.
  5. Strong mechanical and technical aptitude to facilitate ability to recommend necessary improvements to Maintenance Supervisor.
  6. Basic knowledge of industrial power systems, electricity, oil and gas machinery, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  7. Ability to use equipment designed to inspect, test, monitor, and measure safe environmental levels.
  8. Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize and effectively manage time to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  9. Valid driver’s license.
  10. Ability to work long hours and weekends.
  11. Ability to respond to all emergency or non-emergency situations.
  12. Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, bend, climb, squat, crawl, talk, and listen for long periods of time.
  13. Ability to travel in relation with the work and/or continued education.
  14. Ability to operate hand and power tools, industrial machines, digital cameras, phones, scanners, tools, and controls in a safe manner.
  15. Specific vision abilities required include: close vision, distance vision, color perception, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, hand-eye coordination.
  16. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  17. Must be able to wear protective equipment such as safety glasses.
  18. Ability to work and concentrate in a noisy environment.
  19. Requires working with a wide variety of other job groups and involves working around traffic, heights, electricity, hydraulics, and heavy equipment including moving parts.
  20. Must have manual dexterity.
