Boot Hill Museum Inc. is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Part-Time Maintenance employee to work with the Facilities Manager in keeping our museum clean, safe, and welcoming for visitors and staff.

The role includes opening/closing the facility, cleaning exhibits and bathrooms, basic repairs, and assisting with exhibits and events in an outdoor-friendly environment. The position offers roughly 20–25 hours per week with some evenings and weekends for larger events.

Qualifications

  • Experience in maintenance, custodial, groundskeeping, construction, or related field preferred.
  • Reliable and dependable with strong time management.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Effective communication with supervisors and coworkers.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the facility.
  • Clean and maintain museum common areas, exhibits, and bathrooms.
  • Dust, vacuum, and sanitize surfaces.
  • Empty trash cans regularly.
  • Perform minor repairs such as changing light bulbs or tightening hardware.
  • Report HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or other issues to the Facilities Manager.
  • Snow and ice removal.
  • Operate and maintain landscaping equipment.
  • Maintain grounds to keep the museum presentable.
  • Assist with installation, maintenance, and removal of exhibits, displays, and signage.
  • Set up and clean up after events and activities.
  • Identify and report safety hazards to the Facilities Manager or Executive Director.
  • Maintain safe and orderly work areas.
  • Other duties as required.

Job description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Part-Time Maintenance employee. This individual will work with our Facilities Manager to maintain our complex. This role is essential to keeping the museum clean, safe, and welcoming for all visitors and employees.Responsible for opening and closing the facilityClean and maintain museum common areas, exhibits, and bathroomsDust, vacuum, and sanitize surfaces throughout the museumEnsure trash cans are emptied regularlyPerform minor & routine repairs such as replacing light bulbs, tightening hardware, repairing fixtures, painting/touch-ups, and basic plumbing or electrical maintenance as permittedMonitor building systems and report issues with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or other equipment to the Facilities ManagerResponsible for snow and ice removalSafely operate and perform basic maintenance on landscaping and groundskeeping equipment.Ensure landscaping, lawns, and museum grounds are maintained and presentableAssist with the installation, maintenance, and removal of exhibits, displays, and signage.Assist with set-up and clean-up after special events and activitiesIdentify and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Facilities Manager or Executive DirectorMaintain work areas in a safe and orderly conditionOther duties and assignments as requiredSchedule/Benefits$18.00 - $20.00 per hourApproximately 20–25 hours per week.
