Aerotek is seeking a Maintenance Technician for a fast-paced manufacturing environment in DeKalb, IL. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a broad range of equipment, focusing on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime and keep production moving.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience in an industrial environment.

The Maintenance Technician supports a fast-paced manufacturing and packaging facility by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of industrial equipment and systems. This role focuses on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and plays a key part in minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring reliable plant operations. The technician performs preventive maintenance, equipment diagnostics, and calibration of sensors and production instrumentation while upholding strong safety, GMP, and food safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair production equipment, including conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, compressors, fillers, and packaging machinery.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on industrial manufacturing equipment to quickly resolve issues and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to support effective maintenance and repair activities.
  • Calibrate sensors and production instrumentation to maintain accurate and reliable operation of process and packaging equipment.
  • Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions before failures occur.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate closely with production teams to coordinate maintenance activities and support efficient plant operations.
  • Apply and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety requirements in all maintenance tasks.
  • Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and other safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards.
Essential Skills

Work Environment

This role is based in a fast-paced manufacturing and packaging facility with hands-on work on production equipment, conveyors, blenders, fillers, pumps, compressors, and power systems. The environment includes regular exposure to moving machinery, dust, vibration, fumes, and airborne particles. Technicians may occasionally work in extreme temperatures, high humidity, and outdoor conditions. The position requires adherence to all safety procedures and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of DeKalb, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.67 - $37.00/hr.
