This is not a position directly with the City of Tipp City. This position is with Tri-Cities Wastewater Authority (TCA), a joint venture between Tipp City, Vandalia, and Huber Heights

Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Reports To: Operations Supervisor/ Superintendent/ General Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Location: 3777 Old Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio, 45424

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on equipment and infrastructure at a Class IV Water Reclamation facility. This role supports the safe and efficient operation of the plant by ensuring mechanical, electrical, and structural systems are functioning properly and in compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, blowers, mixers, and other mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Conduct inspections and document equipment conditions using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment and systems.
  • Maintain facility grounds and structures, including minor carpentry, painting, and plumbing.
  • Operate tools and equipment such as welders, grinders, saws, and diagnostic instruments.
  • Respond to operational issues and assist in resolving equipment failures.
  • Support plant operations during high-flow events and emergency situations.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations.
  • On-Call as needed

Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2–5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in water or wastewater treatment.
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Ability to obtain relevant safety certifications (e.g., confined space, HAZWOPER).
  • Ohio EPA Wastewater Operator Certification preferred but not required.
  • OSHA 10- or 30-hour general industry training preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with CMMS and basic computer applications.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to noise, chemicals, and varying weather conditions. Requires lifting up to 60 lbs, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and standing/walking for extended periods. Must be available for on-call duty and emergency response as needed.

Salary Range

$62,400 – $74,880 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Certification Incentive

Earning higher levels of Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) Water Reclamation Certification qualifies the incumbent for higher top-tier pay rates.
