Job summary

Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Danville is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform facility maintenance and repairs across plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical systems, and preventive maintenance in a healthcare setting.

You will troubleshoot, follow safety protocols, operate hand and power tools, back up for emergencies, and help maintain emergency power, fire alarm systems, lighting, and fixtures to ensure a safe, comfortable environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in maintenance or facility operations is required.
  • Knowledge of standard practices, procedures and tools in general building/maintenance trades is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repair to facility and equipment including plumbing, carpentry, painting and mechanical repair.
  • Back‑up for call person in case of emergency, respond timely and appropriately.
  • Handle all equipment safely and demonstrate good working knowledge of tools and their safe use.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely.
  • Follow preventive maintenance schedule and complete reports as requested.
  • Inspect and maintain emergency power equipment, test/generate weekly, and inspect fire alarm systems and extinguishers.

Maintenance Technician – Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Danville

As a Maintenance Technician, you will perform a variety of facility maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical repairs, grounds maintenance, and preventive maintenance. This hands‑on role requires strong troubleshooting skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to respond to urgent facility needs. Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform general maintenance and repair to facility and equipment which may involve plumbing, carpentry, painting and mechanical equipment repair or similar.
  • Act as back‑up for call person in case of emergency, respond timely and appropriately.
  • Handle all equipment in a safe manner to prevent accidents and demonstrate good working knowledge of tools and their safe use.
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner.
  • Follow preventive maintenance schedule / instruction and complete reports, as requested.
  • Inspect and maintain emergency power equipment, test/start generator once a week and maintain equipment; inspect and maintain fire alarm system to include testing system, fire doors, audible alarms, visible alarms(lights) and smoke detectors and record data on appropriate forms as required by state or facility; check condition and readiness of extinguishers monthly; inspect and maintain lighting system throughout facility.
  • Inspect and maintain plumbing system, replace or repair faucets, toilet stools, urinals, traps, drains, basins and bathtubs, as needed; repair or refinishe furniture in rooms, offices and dining room as needed.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in maintenance or facility operations required.
  • Knowledge of standard practices, procedures and tools in the general building/maintenance trades preferred.
