This position is assigned to Parks Operations

JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician II performs labor-intensive tasks and routine general and preventative maintenance on City of Conroe parks grounds, equipment, facilities, and infrastructure daily.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of three to five years of experience.

Special Requirements:

Possession of a valid Texas Class C Driver's License or ability to obtain within six months. Must possess First Aid and CPR certifications or ability to obtain within one year of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of principles and practices of parks and recreation facilities maintenance and repair or related services.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of safe work habits.
• Knowledge of horticulture principles.
• Skill in operating various tools, equipment, vehicles, and trailers.
• Skill in analyzing problems and developing effective solutions.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to understand and follow City of Conroe and departmental policies and procedures.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to provide high-quality customer service to internal and external customers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is physically demanding, requiring the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Additional physical abilities include balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
