Starting pay rate: $25 - $35 depending on experience and area.

Maintenance Technician

As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring each store operates smoothly behind the scenes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Service and maintain refrigeration equipment, including walk-in freezers, refrigerators, and coolers. Replace belts, service motors, controls, and refrigerant systems.
• Service and maintain dishwashers, water heaters, steam kettles, cookers, and mixers.
• Service and maintain ovens, gas valves, pilot lights, thermocouples, heating and refrigerating units on food carts, fans, and electrical cords.
• Install and relocate Food Service equipment and appliances.
• Lead the work of others when required, requisition materials, keep records of time and materials, and be responsible for user maintenance of equipment.
• Assist in other maintenance tasks throughout the district, involving heavy manual labor and skilled or semi-skilled tasks, when not engaged in Food Service support.

Knowledge of:

• Electrical and plumbing methods, principles, and practices related to buildings; kitchen appliance repair; electric motors, pumps, compressors; electrical, refrigeration, heating, and plumbing systems.
• Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in maintenance and repair of Food Service equipment.
• Basic arithmetic, work vocabulary, and English proficiency required for satisfactory performance.
• Safety procedures and practices related to work in Food Service areas.

Ability to:

• Maintain, test, and troubleshoot electric motors, pumps, compressors, refrigeration, heating, and plumbing systems.
• Use required hand and power tools.
• Lift heavy objects safely.
• Read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
• Estimate time and materials, maintain work records and reports.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Training and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Licenses:

• Valid driver’s license.
• HVAC certification required for certain geographical areas.

Physical Demands:

The physical requirements for this role include regular use of hands, reaching, talking, hearing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, and smelling. The employee must be able to lift 75-100 lbs regularly and have vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

The employee must be willing to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
