Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital for Rehabilitation is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our pediatric facilities safe, functional, and well-maintained. The role involves repairing and maintaining electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and finishing systems under supervision, with preventive maintenance and service requests managed daily.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma with building trade experience, and may hold relevant trade licenses.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required with three years of building trade experience.
• Understanding of age-specific developmental stages of patients and ability to interact appropriately with patients of all ages when necessary.
• Trade license/certification must be renewed annually or as required by the licensing/certification agency.
• Continued education activities required to maintain license/certification or stay current in the trade.

• Perform modifications and alterations to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and finishing activities.
• Complete routine to skilled preventive maintenance and order requests.
• Document inspections on daily log forms.
• Maintain buildings and facilities spaces.

As a Maintenance Technician, you will work under the direction of the Facility Manager to help keep our facilities safe, functional, and well-maintained. You will perform repairs, modifications, and alterations across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and finishing areas while completing routine and skilled preventive maintenance and service requests.

You will also conduct inspections, document findings on daily logs, and support the overall maintenance and upkeep of buildings and facility spaces. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical skills, reliability, and flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and rotating on-call shifts as needed.

A caregiver in this position works days, Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm, with rotational weekends and holidays, and on-call requirements every fourth week.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• In lieu of a Trade School diploma, a High School diploma is required along with three years of building trade experience
• Must have an understanding of the age-specific developmental stages of patients served by the Hospital and demonstrate the ability to interact appropriately with patients of all ages when necessary
• Specific trade license/certification and/or specific training through education and/or equivalent on-the-job experience
• The license/certification must be renewed annually or as required by the licensing/certification agency
• Must participate in continuing education activities as required to maintain license/certification or to keep current in the trade specified

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Trade school diploma is required with 3 years of experience in general healthcare building maintenance
• HVAC experience
• Strong mechanical abilities
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts
• Reliability and availability for rotational scheduling

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to tolerate long periods of standing and other activities that may be physically demanding such as, but not limited to, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, and working in confined areas.
• Must be willing to participate in non-violent intervention training. Must be willing to be trained in and respond to emergency situations involving the operations of the facility.
