Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to sustain and repair building and central energy plant systems. You will perform inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs, using mechanical, electrical, carpentry or plumbing skills in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

  • High School Degree or GED required.
  • Three to five years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic preferred.
  • Fundamental mechanical ability and familiarity with healthcare environments required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate facility and central energy plant environment for deficiencies and safety hazards.
  • Perform repairs, preventive maintenance and improvements per codes and manufacturer specs.
  • Coordinate shutdown activities and assist with on-site contractor work as needed.

The Maintenance Mechanic maintains operating condition of equipment and buildings and completes simple repairs. In this role, you will perform inspection, preventive maintenance, service and repair of equipment, building and central energy plant systems, utilizing your knowledge of fundamental mechanical, electrical, carpentry or plumbing. A caregiver in this position works Sunday-Thursday from 2:30PM - 11:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Monitor and evaluate facility and central energy plant environment for deficiencies, safety hazards, broken equipment and aesthetic improvements.
  • Perform repairs, preventive maintenance and improvements according to Federal and State codes and standards, local and State building codes and manufacturer's specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area.
  • Use proper warning signs and safety equipment to ensure the safety of others.
  • Monitor and report abnormal operation of central energy plant equipment.
  • Use proper hand or power tools to complete tasks.
  • Use personal protective equipment when necessary.
  • Routinely pick up work orders in the Plant Operations department and complete them promptly.
  • Report to Supervisor or Director any problems or items requiring follow up or for notifying the following shift.
  • Respond to emergency situations promptly, taking appropriate action in them.
  • Notify the Supervisor or Director when emergencies, deficiencies and safety hazards are identified.
  • Assist customers in a professional and courteous manner, cooperates with others.
  • Assist outside contractors on site for equipment and building repairs.
  • Perform inspections, repairs and preventative maintenance of equipment, building and central energy plant systems.
  • Estimate time and materials required on work orders.
  • Maintain necessary parts and tools to complete tasks.
  • Coordinate shut down activities with Plant Operations Supervisor.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • High School Degree or GED
  • Three to five years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic
  • Fundamental mechanical ability
  • Experience in a healthcare setting
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Electrical, Plumbing or HVAC Mechanic Certification
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • Ability to move/transport items weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to inspect equipment
  • Ability to install, repair and maintain systems, equipment, fixtures and/or structures
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $20.77

Maximum hourly: $31.68
