Job Description

Role Overview: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and facility systems that support vehicle testing operations. This role ensures the reliability and safety of all test equipment, tools, and infrastructure used throughout our facility.

Responsibilities: Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned or requested.

Perform routine and preventive maintenance on testing equipment, dynamometers, HVAC systems, lifts, and facility infrastructure.

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues with test equipment and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.

Maintain calibration standards and work with the engineers and test cell operators to ensure all test equipment functions within specification.

Assist in the installation, relocation, and setup of new equipment or testing systems.

Maintain detailed maintenance records, logs, and documentation for compliance and reporting purposes.

Respond to service needs in a timely and professional manner, ensuring minimal disruption to testing operations.

Adhere to all safety policies and procedures; proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.

Support facility improvement projects and provide input on equipment upgrades or replacements.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Behaviours

High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in automotive maintenance, industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or a related field preferred.

2+ years of experience in equipment maintenance, ideally in an automotive or industrial testing environment.

Experience with vehicle testing equipment (e.g., dynamometers, emissions testing setups, data acquisition systems) preferred.

Candidates should be knowledgeable in Ohms law and the following equipment: voltmeter, pressure/flow sensors, thermocouples, hydraulic systems, etc.

Must possess keen observational skills when inspecting equipment with mindset of preventing failures before they occur

Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Experience with tools and diagnostic equipment for mechanical/electrical troubleshooting.

Possesses strong interpersonal skills and communication skills.

Demonstrates strong work ethic, integrity, and a high level of attention to details.

An aptitude for learning coupled with a positive “can do” attitude.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: Must be able to walk, bend, reach, and lift, if necessary 20 pounds or more. The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Acute vision and perception are required due to the nature of the equipment being operated. Occasional off-hours or weekend work may be required for critical maintenance tasks.
