Job summary

The Barrington of Carmel (A BHI Community) is seeking a Maintenance Technician to help keep our senior living campus safe, comfortable, and well-maintained. You will perform routine and corrective maintenance across buildings, grounds, and equipment to support resident satisfaction and campus operations.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, basic hand and electrical tools experience, and the ability to read manuals and perform basic math.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience using basic hand and electrical tools.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call and weekend rotations.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and perform basic math.
  • Preferred: plumbing, electrical, and HVAC experience/certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance to keep buildings, grounds, and equipment in safe condition.
  • Complete work orders and document repairs accurately.
  • Troubleshoot plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and related systems.
  • Perform apartment turnovers and renovations for resident move-ins.
  • Replace HVAC filters, light bulbs, and maintain building systems.
  • Install appliances, hang pictures, and move/assemble furniture as needed.
  • Assist contractors on-site under leadership direction.
  • Maintain clean, safe, organized workspaces and storage.
  • Follow safety procedures and use protective equipment.
  • Work Monday–Friday 9am-5pm with rotating weekends.

In This Role You Will:

  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance to keep community buildings, grounds, and equipment in safe, working condition.
  • Complete assigned work orders, documenting repairs accurately and closing them promptly upon completion.
  • Troubleshoot and assist with repairs related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and other building systems within your scope of training.
  • Perform apartment turnovers and renovations, including patching, painting, cleaning, and preparing units for resident move-ins.
  • Replace HVAC filters, light bulbs, and perform general upkeep on building systems and furnishings.
  • Install appliances and equipment, hang pictures, and assemble or disassemble furniture as needed.
  • Assist contractors with on-site work at the direction of leadership.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized workspaces, tools, and storage areas.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety procedures, securing work areas and using protective equipment as required.
  • Monday – Fridays(9am-5pm), with rotating weekends

Who You Are:

  • You have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • You have experience using basic hand and electrical tools.
  • You are willing to participate in on-call, weekend, or irregular-hour rotations as needed.
  • You are able to learn new skills and acquire technical knowledge through on-the-job training.
  • You can read technical manuals, follow instructions, and perform basic math and measurements.
  • Preferred: plumbing, electrical, and HVAC experience and certifications
