Job Description
Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to join the Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA. The Maintenance Technician will assist the maintenance team in installing, maintaining and repairing equipment, machinery and vehicles.
Responsibilities
What Will You Do?
- Perform basic repairs and installations of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems with assistance from the Maintenance Specialist.
- Assist in repairs of mechanical or electrical problems.
- Assist in dismantling of equipment to access and remove defective parts using hand and power tools.
- Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools and reassemble equipment.
- Support individual departments by performing essential Preventive Maintenance (PM) on various equipment.
- Inspect mobile equipment and perform required PM’s to ensure functionality.
- Provide facilities keeping services such as light bulb replacement, plumbing repair, and general facilities cleaning as needed.
- Advise maintenance specialist on items found during PM’s or other tasks that require more attention or repairs.
- Provide emergency attention and repairs of equipment to maintain production.
- Read and interpret facility blueprints with assistance.
- Handle tools, supplies and materials to other workers; prepare the work area, and clean the work area or equipment.
- Oversee work being completed by outside contractors.
- Additional duties to be assigned as required.
- Source parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms.
- Basic troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems with assistance.
- Assist with grounds keeping as needed.
- Exercise flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Advanced training in a relevant field preferred.
- Prior experience in industrial plant maintenance preferred.
- Strong documentation skills required.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatic, carpentry skills, plumbing/pipe fitting.
- Basic knowledge of welding and cutting principles a plus.
- Basic HVAC knowledge a plus.
- Basic ability to read mechanical and/or electrical drawings.
- Basic ability to read blueprints.
- Able to multitask.
- Able to work with a variety of company levels (daily interface depending on assigned tasks).
Personal Qualities / Behaviors
- This position will have exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required.
- Ability to stand, bend and walk for extended periods of time.
- Able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently.
- This position will be exposed to heights over 10 feet off the ground.
- This position will be exposed to confined spaces.
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of conditions including all four seasons.
