Job summary

Longhorn Village in Austin, TX is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform general and preventive maintenance on facilities, equipment, and grounds.

Under the Maintenance Supervisor, you will handle plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry tasks, respond to emergencies, complete work orders, keep tools organized, and follow OSHA safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong customer service mindset and ability to communicate effectively with residents, families and staff.
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; technical schooling preferred for advanced maintenance tasks.
  • 1–3 years of hands-on maintenance or mechanical experience required; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general and preventive maintenance on facility structures and equipment.
  • Address plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and repair tasks as needed.
  • Complete work orders promptly and maintain organized shop and storage areas.

This person will have a genuine interest in geriatric care and be able to motivate while maintaining relationship with staff and residents. The right candidate will always strive to do the best job possible, to be creative and to work towards accomplishing facility goals.Position Summary:Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for performing general/preventive maintenance and repairs on all physical structures and certain facility equipment, as well as grounds maintenance in compliance with established safety rules, policies, and procedures.Accountabilities:Performs scheduled maintenance checks throughout the facility which may include assisting inspectors and contractors in the testing, inspection or repair of equipment, building/mechanical systems and structure; responds to all emergencies such as: fire, smoke, panic alarms.Performs scheduled maintenance on equipment according to manufacturer’s recommendations and operation manuals; performs maintenance repairs such as: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc.Completes work orders and special projects in a timely manner; keeps maintenance shop and storage areas neat and orderly; maintains tools and equipment in good working order.Is on call for all disaster emergencies such as: snow, ice storms, fire, tornadoes and floods; is placed on a weekly on call schedule.Maintain work area and keep the department in compliance with OSHA safety standards.Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing.Demonstrates the community hospitality promises towards residents, families, associates and vendors.Full Time Benefits:Medical, Dental, Vision, HSA, FSAShort Term Disability, Accident, Life InsurancePaid Time Off403B Retirement Savings Plan with discretionary employer contributionEmployee Assistance ProgramDiscount Meal ProgramHigh school graduate or equivalent required; graduate of accredited technical school preferred.A minimum of 1-3 years of hands-on maintenance and/or mechanical experience.Must maintain a valid driver’s license.Position may require certification or license as determined by local authority.
