Job summary

Frederick County Government, Maryland is seeking a technically skilled supervisor to manage installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical systems in county buildings. You will supervise Maintenance Technicians and contractors, oversee budgets, and ensure safety compliance.

The position includes comprehensive benefits, paid leave, and a defined benefit retirement plan. External hires start at base wage with potential advancement per county policy.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or the equivalency.
• Minimum 6 years of progressively responsible work experience in installation and maintenance of a mechanical trade.
• Minimum 2 years of work experience supervising or directing the work of others.
• Possession of a Maryland State Masters HVAC or Electrical license.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Establish overall objectives for staff; assign, review and evaluate work performance.
• Supervise, approve leave, and time sheets.
• Monitor budgets; assist with department budget process.
• Prepare price proposals for procurement of materials or services.
• Estimate materials costs and labor hours for repairs and installation.
• Oversee maintenance and repair of County plumbing systems per safety guidelines.
• Coordinate projects and supervise outside contractors as needed.
• Inspect jobs and estimate materials required.
• Respond to maintenance and construction issues; drive county vehicle when needed.
