Job summary

Chelsea Retirement Community in Chelsea, MI, is seeking a Maintenance Technician with a strong painting background to maintain a safe and welcoming senior living environment. The role covers apartment refresh work, repairs, and preventive maintenance across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and more.

You will patch walls, complete interior painting, and ensure move-in ready units, while also supporting residents and staff with timely maintenance responses.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a senior living or residential setting.
• Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
• Proficiency with maintenance tools and equipment.
• Must have a valid, unrestricted driver's license.
• Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities

• Complete apartment refresh work, including patching and repairing walls and ceilings and completing interior painting.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs involving plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, mechanical systems, and general building upkeep.
• Respond to maintenance requests and troubleshoot repair needs reported by residents and team members.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and regular inspections of equipment, systems, and community buildings.
• Ensure appliances, plumbing, and electrical systems are functioning properly during apartment turnover and refresh work.
• Follow established maintenance schedules, safety procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Maintain tools, equipment, supplies, and replacement materials needed for maintenance work.
• Provide professional, courteous service to residents, families, and team members while communicating maintenance needs and updates.
• Document completed maintenance, repairs, and inspections and report major concerns to the supervisor.
