Job summary

Mercy Retirement & Care Center in Oakland, CA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine facility and equipment maintenance across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and more. The role involves organizing materials, reporting issues, and responding to emergencies on a day-to-day basis.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of building maintenance experience, is capable of reading and following procedures, and will complete required background checks.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen years of age with the ability to read, write and speak English.
• Formal training in vocational school or trade apprenticeship program preferred but not required.
• A minimum of 1 years building maintenance work experience.
• Completion of a background check. In some regions, pre-hire process may include physical, TB test, drug screen, and/or fingerprinting per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include, plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures.
• Prepare and organizes materials and equipment before starting a task.
• Report equipment/items to supervisor that need repair immediately.
• Responds to occasional building emergencies as needed by the supervisor.
• Report all incidents/accidents to supervisor.
• Perform daily rounds and check of various systems as assigned, including related recordkeeping.
• Other duties as assigned.

• May need to occasionally lift up to 50lbs.
