Job summary

Mercy Retirement & Care Center in Oakland, CA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep the facility and equipment in optimal condition. Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen years old with ability to read, write and speak English.
• Formal training in vocational school or trade apprenticeship preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 1 year building maintenance work experience.
• Background check required; pre-hire processes may include physical, TB test, drug screen, or fingerprinting as per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair on facility and equipment including plumbing, electrical, carpentry and mechanical tasks.
• Prepare and organize materials and equipment before starting a task.
• Report equipment/items needing repair to supervisor; respond to emergencies as needed.
• Perform daily rounds and maintain related records; follow safety and operational procedures.

Our Maintenance Technicians:

• Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include, plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures.
• Prepare and organizes materials and equipment before starting atask.
• Report equipment/items to supervisor that need repairimmediately.
• Responds to occasional building emergencies as needed by thesupervisor.
• Report all incidents/accidents to supervisor.
• Perform daily rounds and check of various systems as assigned, including related recordkeeping.
• Other duties asassigned.

What you need to succeed:

Physical Requirements Include:

• Ability to work in different physical positions to complete tasks, while providing a variety of physically demanding maintenance-related tasks inside and outside the building.
• Must have good manual dexterity and the ability to work with tools andequipment.
• May need to occasionally lift up to 50lbs.
