Job summary

Advocate Health's Mount Pleasant facility is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, and repair patient care equipment. This full-time role includes on-call rotations and a first shift schedule, with duties spanning building systems and safety inspections.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, 2–4 years in equipment maintenance, and hands-on experience with CMMS and building

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic computer skills such as CMMS, building automation system, Microsoft Office.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs facility and equipment maintenance in accordance with codes and standards.
• Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs mechanical equipment (motors, pumps, conveyors, doors, fans, boilers, controls).
• Maintains patient care equipment (beds, wheelchairs, carts, tables) where not managed by other departments.
• Maintains mechanical/electrical systems (HVAC, piping, electrical, plumbing, gas systems) with guidance.
• Performs routine general maintenance (grounds, carpentry, painting, snow removal).
• Responds to emergencies (leaks, floods, power outages, equipment failures) per plan.
• Communicates status to occupants and completes preventive maintenance and safety checks.
• Reads blueprints and manuals to gain knowledge for assignments.
