Job summary

Standard Meat Company is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to assist the maintenance team in monitoring building systems, performing preventive maintenance, and repairs. Shifts and schedules are coordinated by maintenance supervision to ensure coverage, with overtime and weekends as needed.

The role requires basic electrical/hydraulic understanding, tool proficiency, and strong safety awareness to maintain GMP standards and equipment integrity in a food processing environment.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems.
• Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic problem-solving skills.
• Air filter identification and replacement.
• V-Belt identification and replacement.
• Light Bulb identification and replacement.
• Basic Plumbing identification and repair (Water Closet, sinks, fittings, Pipe threading, Etc.).
• Door repair (Seals, handles, Etc.).
• Inspection of Facility safety devices (Fire Extinguisher, Eye wash station, Etc.).
• Maintain building and grounds.
• Oil identification and change.
• Bearings identification, lubrication, and repair.
• Conveyor belt identification and repair.
• Pneumatic hose identification and repair.
• Process equipment assembly.
• Basic Electrical identification and repair (Plug, Relay, VFD, Etc.).
• Motor/Gearbox identification and repair.
• Tap and Die identification and utilization.

Responsibilities

• Routinely inspect equipment.
• Identify potential equipment failure through routine inspection.
• Identify equipment issues that are an employee and / or a food safety hazard.
• Perform maintenance duties.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled and/or assigned.
• Maintain operational ability and integrity of equipment.
• Maintain areas associated with maintenance to GMP standards.
• Operate equipment using hand tools, power tools, and test instruments.
• Safely operate forklifts and electric pallet jacks.
• Maintain required company & departmental records and documents.
• Record daily notes in PM assignments/work orders.
• Follow all food safety (GMP) and safety guidelines.
• Maintain personal tools and PPE.
• Comply with GMP and safety policies.
