Job summary

Independence Village White Lake is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform general maintenance and repair duties across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building systems. The role involves outdoor work in varying weather, weekend/holiday hours, and collaboration with multiple departments to deliver quality service.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, experience in apartment maintenance, and the ability to read instructions and write routine reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or some college credits in a technical area or equivalent experience.
• Proficient in apartment maintenance including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural and appliance repair; drywall repairs and painting experience is essential.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals; capable of writing routine reports and correspondences.
• Ability to apply common sense to follow written and oral instructions and to handle problems with standard variables.

Responsibilities

• Operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain effective working relationships with team members.
• Identify and report broken equipment or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Keep the work area and equipment clean and safe per regulations.
• Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and building/grounds as required.
• Maintain a positive customer service attitude in interactions with staff and residents.
