Job summary

St. James Parish Hospital is seeking a Maintenance Tech to support the Facilities Manager with maintenance duties across departments. You will respond to requests, perform preventive maintenance, and manage the asset inventory using the facility's work order system.

You will also maintain grounds, coordinate with Infection Control and Safety Officers during projects, and liaise with contractors. The role requires after-hours on-call availability and hands-on skills in carpentry, plumbing,

Qualifications

Experience in maintaining facilities, equipment, and systems in a hospital setting.
Able to perform preventive maintenance per specs and regulatory requirements.
Strong communication and documentation skills for work orders and coordination.

Responsibilities

Respond to routine work requests with proper permits and document progress in the work order system.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and utility systems, manage asset inventory and lifecycle.
Maintain exterior grounds and safety standards; coordinate with Infection Control and Safety Officers during construction.
Coordinate with contractors and serve as liaison between hospital management and service vendors.
Respond to after-hours on-call requests per hospital policy; use troubleshooting skills across trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC).
