Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician III is a skilled maintenance professional responsible for the advanced troubleshooting, repair, installation, modification, and preventive maintenance of manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and supporting infrastructure in an industrial manufacturing environment. This position works independently to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and production equipment issues while ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational standards. The Maintenance Technician III plays a key role in maintaining equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and providing technical guidance to contractors and less experienced technicians.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, installs, erects, moves and/or dismantles all types of machinery and auxiliary production equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance for building and grounds as necessary.
  • Maintains all shop tools and equipment and performs clean‑up, painting, and housekeeping duties.
  • Communicates pertinent information to off shifts.
  • Directs efforts of contract labor on specific assignments.
  • Initiates, reviews, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility.
  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the division, the group, and the company. Includes ability to handle stress and to interact with others so as to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment and minimize personal conflicts.
  • Communicates with the emergency coordinator (EHS) regarding environmental management activities.
  • Understands and responds effectively to EHS directions during emergencies by being familiar with emergency procedures, equipment, and systems, as necessary. Implements contingency plan to the level required by the position.
  • Understands, completes, and maintains environmental documentation for which the individual is trained, or as directed by EHS (i.e., inspections, labeling, record keeping, maintenance of equipment, etc.).
  • Recognizes waste streams and minimizes waste generation, through prudent use of materials, proper disposal and segregation as directed during training or by EHS. Understands and practices proper accumulation and storage requirements for wastes.
  • Complies with environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or handling hazardous and non‑hazardous materials and wastes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
  • Self‑motivated problem solver who can identify root causes, minimize downtime, and drive equipment reliability in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Ability to apply independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner. Ability to perform such individual assignments as management may direct.
  • Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in PCC manuals.
  • Maintains an awareness and complies with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements in the workplace by attending scheduled training sessions.
  • Thorough understanding of the operating principles of all assigned equipment.
  • Must possess general carpentry skills.
  • Ability to arc weld, MIG weld, TIG weld, and use oxy‑acetylene equipment (stainless, carbon, steel, and aluminum).
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to perform basic plumbing and piping.
  • Ability to perform basic structural and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to use basic machine shop equipment.
  • Must maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills.
  • Working knowledge of the following areas: welding, brazing, burning, bending, heat treatment of metals, shearing and drilling, machine shop theory and practices, nomenclature of assigned equipment.
Required Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 7+ years of job‑related mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Mechanic, Millwright, or similar mechanical maintenance role in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Other Requirements:
  • This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to, high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc.
  • Must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices.
  • Works in confined area(s).
  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
