Job summary

Hörmann, a premier garage door manufacturer in the United States, seeks a Maintenance Technician to uphold facility and production equipment reliability. You will perform mechanical, electrical, and basic automation work, service conveyors and machines, and ensure safety and efficiency on the shop floor.

Requires five years of industrial maintenance experience, 480V knowledge, blueprints, and PLC basics; willingness to learn forklift/ crane operation; and English fluency.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent with at least five years of industrial manufacturing experience.
  • Or formal training resulting in a certificate or degree in related maintenance field.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems maintenance.
  • Advanced experience working with 480V power systems and NEC code knowledge.
  • Understanding of motor controls, AC/DC circuits, PLC ladder logic, and basic PLC programming.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics; operate lathes and mills; basic computer skills.
  • English reading/writing/speaking required; willing to work hours to meet production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints.
  • Servicing and maintaining equipment including motors, hydraulic systems, transmission systems, and production-related equipment.
  • Servicing and maintaining the facility including wiring, painting, landscaping, and general repairs.
  • Inspecting and assessing the functionality of production machines.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns.
  • Adjusting mechanical parts using hand and machine tools.
  • Fabricating parts for repairs and machine upgrades.
  • Conducting routine maintenance and safety checks.
  • Communicating with the production team and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Capacity to develop knowledge of manufacturing methods and apply to work assigned.
  • Must promote a safe work environment and uphold safety policies.

Job description

Job Summary:

Maintenance is responsible for keeping both the physical facility as well as the production equipment in good working order.

A qualified candidate must also be equipped with a good understanding of basic mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems and be able to support internal and external resources in completing various maintenance projects.

The maintenance technician will perform mechanical work on various machines in our facility including but not limited to repairs, preventative maintenance, modifications, and basic electrical work. As well as, general facilities maintenance such as painting, wiring, repairing building structures, and other duties as assigned.

The maintenance technician will possess the ability or have the capacity to learn how to use any number of tools as used in this position as well as all required safety devices necessary. Candidate will be required to interact with a production computer terminal and potentially be certified (or trained) to drive a forklift truck, overhead crane, and operate a pallet jack. Candidate must be able to carry out any additional assignments as instructed by the manager.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Conduct activities by adhering to established procedures and approved processes.
  • Capacity to develop knowledge of manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment and be able to apply this knowledge to the completion of work as assigned.
  • Must promote a safe work environment and uphold all safety policies.
  • Carry out all job duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent with at least five years of industrial manufacturing experience.
  • Or completed documented formal training resulting in the candidate having obtained a certificate or degree in a related industrial or facilities maintenance field.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems maintenance.
  • Advanced experience working with 480V power systems.
  • Knowledge of the Electrical Code (NEC) and any recent updates.
  • Advanced understanding of: motor controls, AC and DC circuits, PLC ladder logic, and basic programming of PLCs
  • Ability to bend, install and thread conduit sizes ½” – 4”.
  • Read blueprints and schematics.
  • Intermediate experience with operating lathes, mills, and other machining equipment.
  • Basic computer and report writing skills.
  • When required, work whatever hours are required to complete necessary job assignments to meet production or project goals.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.

  • Follow an established routine and be predisposed to high level of interaction in a team environment.
  • Successful candidates must be a highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently without continuous supervision.
  • Work with an understanding that they are a member of a team where success for one is measured by success for all.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Perform general math calculations
Essential Physical Functions:
  • Be able to safely lift or move at least 50lbs.
  • Be able to safely climb stairs or a ladder.
  • Be able to work at heights exceeding 10ft. above grade.
Equipment Used:

Tools and equipment along with specialized training if needed will be provided as required.

Hours
  • Monday -Thursday, 4 PM to 2:30 AM CST
