Job summary

Hörmann is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to design and cost BOMs for new products, and to support loading dock equipment and door production lines. You will work with field services to install, service, and train on systems, troubleshoot downtime, and lead Lean improvement efforts.

Requirements include a BS in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering, ERP experience (SAP preferred), Creo 3D familiarity, and strong problem-solving skills. Travel is expected to be <25%.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
  • Manufacturing experience in metal fabrication or loading dock equipment.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel) and ERP experience (SAP favored).
  • Experience with Creo 3D is a plus; Lean methods valued.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Construct assembly drawings, costed BOMs, and standardized work instructions for new products.

  • Collaborate with field services to install, service, and train on equipment.

  • Pay or shift range: $68,000 USD to $78,000 USD The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
Description

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Construct assembly drawings, costed BOMS, and standardized work instructions for new product introductions.
  • Provide day-to-day manufacturing engineering support to loading dock equipment and impact door production lines.
  • Work with field services to create and maintain installation, service, and training
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing, equipment, and assembly issues to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Work with maintenance personnel to develop equipment PM plans
  • Act on Engineering Change Requests as needed.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Analyze production data and identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve cycle times, and increase productivity.
  • Provide technical training and support to production personnel.
  • As experts for our products, the candidate may be given additional assignments which could require the utilization of any number of resources to achieve task objectives. Such projects could require skills or resources outside of the normal scope of the position(s); however, such assignments are to be expected and are not considered outside the scope of this position’s responsibilities
  • BS in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
  • Manufacturing experience in a metal fabrication, industrial equipment, door systems, loading dock equipment, or related manufacturing environment are preferrable
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Have experience with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software package such as Oracle, JD Edwards, or SAP. Hörmann manages operations with SAP; therefore, experience with this package is preferred.
  • Analytical problem solver
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and accomplish goals in a timely manner
  • Experience using CREO 3D modeling software a plus
  • Lean methodology experience a plus
  • Ability to work in a group environment
  • Ability to multitask to meet customer requirements

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Although the employee is not expected to perform extraneous physical activities in the completion of their work, frequent trips into areas of production may be necessary, therefore, they must be physically able to safely maneuver in production areas.
  • May require walking primarily on a level surface for specific periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday.

Travel Requirements:

  • Expected travel will be <25%.

Equipment Used:

The candidate may be required to use a variety of precision measuring devices as well as various computer-based software packages.
