Job summary

Otterbein SeniorLife is seeking a Full-Time Maintenance Tech to maintain a safe, clean environment for residents and staff. The role covers general maintenance, repairs, and collaboration with other departments to support high-quality care.

The position operates primarily Monday–Friday with on-call rotations. This role emphasizes teamwork, safety compliance, and proactive upkeep of facilities across Otterbein’s communities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license required.
• Experience in general maintenance: electrical, plumbing, carpentry.
• Mechanical experience on HVAC systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe, comfortable environment for residents and staff.
• Performs general maintenance tasks including repairs, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
• Assists with moving residents’ furnishings and painting when needed.
• Supports preventive maintenance of equipment and records.
• Maintains documentation related to safety, inspections and logs.
• Interacts positively with residents and staff and follows policies.

Shift

Primarily Monday-Friday with rotating emergency on-call.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a comfortable, safe and secure environment for the residents, their families, visitors and partners.
• Performs a variety of general maintenance tasks, including general repairs, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.
• Assists with moving of residents’ furnishings as needed.
• Paints residents' living quarters as needed.
• Assists with the on-going preventative maintenance program of cleaning, repairing and operating equipment, which minimizes abnormal equipment failure.
• Assists with maintaining documentation of fire safety evacuation plan, fire drills, disaster plan, smoking policy, fire alarm testing, fire extinguisher maintenance and testing reports, generator testing logs, water temperatures, flame spread ratings of interior finishes, and other maintenance records.
• Assists with transportation tasks as needed.
• Performs any other duties as assigned.
• Interacts positively with residents, family members, guests and personnel
• Follows all established policies, procedures and regulations to assure that quality resident care is maintained
• Communicates, coordinates and cooperates with other team members
• Maintains resident rights and confidentiality

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Licensure/Certification: Holds a valid Ohio driver’s license
• Experience: General Maintenance - Electrical, Plumbing and Carpentry Experience, Mechanical Experience on H.V.A.C., Mowers and Vehicles.
