Job summary

Theuniversityunion in York, PA is seeking a maintenance technician to serve three apartment communities totaling 488 units. The role requires skills across appliances, carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and painting, with on-call rotation every six weeks and a valid driver’s license.

Base pay ranges $20.00-$35.00 per hour, plus on-call pay. A $500 sign-on bonus is offered after 30 days of employment, with benefits after 60-90 days including medical, dental, vision, life and LTD.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge across appliance repair, carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and painting.
• Able to read safety rules and maintenance manuals.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• On-call rotation willingness.
• Own hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintenance of apartments, buildings, common areas and grounds.
• Inspect property cleanliness and report lease violations to Property Manager.
• Perform seasonal grounds duties as needed.
• Participate in apartment turn-key process and preventative maintenance programs.
• Contribute to organization and inventory control of the Maintenance Shop and other storage areas.
• Participate in care, maintenance and inventory of all company owned equipment.
• Apply safety standards and practices in maintenance operations.
• Communicate professionally with residents, vendors and staff.

This position will serve three apartment communities in York and Wrightsville totaling 488 units.

This position requires a week of on-call every six weeks.

HVAC Certification preferred or required within 90 days of hire

Must have your own hand tools.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge and experience, coupled with diagnostic and repair skills, for each of the following trades is preferred: Appliance Repair, Carpentry, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Painting
• Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record and criminal background check
• Access to dedicated and reliable transportation
• Able and willing to work flexible hours and participate in the on-call rotation
• Must provide basic hand tools
• Able to prioritize and schedule work assignments according to property needs while ensuring an outstanding level of customer service
• Ability to work with confidential information
• EPA 608 Certification Type I and Type II (preferred)
• Able to perform the essential physical qualifications (listed below)

Responsibilities

• Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of apartments, buildings, common areas and grounds through Service Requests or direction by Management
• Inspect property for cleanliness, trash removal, abandoned vehicles etc. and report suspected lease violations to Property Manager
• Perform seasonal grounds duties as needed
• Participate in apartment turn-key process and preventative maintenance programs
• Contribute to the organization and inventory control of the Maintenance Shop and other storage areas, with emphasis on safety concerns and unit keys
• Participate in the care, maintenance, and inventory of all company owned equipment
• Application of all safety standards and practices associated with maintenance operations
• Effectively communicate with residents, vendors and other employees in a professional and courteous manner
• Wear appropriate safety equipment as tasks dictate
• Assist other team members and complete other projects and duties as assigned

Summary

Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
