Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a maintenance professional to support our 24/6, 12-hour shift operations in Alabama. You will perform mechanical and electrical maintenance on corrugated equipment, read schematics, and execute preventive maintenance while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Candidates should have a strong maintenance background, associate degree or higher, and Lean knowledge. Willingness to work overtime and weekends is required in a fast-paced industrial setting with emphasis on

Qualifications

• Must maintain excellent attendance reliability.
• Experience with motors, drives, contacts, relays, timers, PLCs.
• Corrugated equipment maintenance experience or related heavy industrial maintenance experience.
• Ability to perform electrical and mechanical work as necessary.
• Technical understanding with a focus on safety.
• Ability to read wiring schematics, machine manuals, mechanical drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyors, and production machines.
• Understanding of control circuits, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Ability to remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Must be able to work in a 24/6 environment, 12hr shifts.
• Willing to work mandatory overtime and weekends, as needed.
• Ability to remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Ensure compliance with all Safety and Quality standards, processes, procedures.
• Willingness to take initiative, learn new skills and help team members.
• General computer skills such as the ability to navigate through program screens.

• Ability to read and understand production specifications.
• Awareness of OSHA standards for electrical safety.

EDUCATION

• Corrugating and manufacturing experience, a plus
• Associate's degree or higher in Industrial Maintenance, Machining, or a related field preferred
• Demonstrated advanced training or certification in the maintenance mechanical/electrical industry
• Lean manufacturing knowledge, especially 5S
