Job summary

United Security Services is seeking a Maintenance Tech in Chicago, IL. This full-time role involves performing preventive maintenance across multiple sites, diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues, and coordinating with operations to minimize downtime.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, hands-on maintenance experience, basic knowledge of electrical/mechanical/plumbing systems, and a valid driver’s license to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing malfunctions promptly to reduce disruptions.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory for asset management and compliance.
  • Coordinate with team and management to schedule maintenance with minimal production impact.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance operations.

About the Role:

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of facility equipment and infrastructure across various sites in the United States. This position is responsible for performing routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to minimize downtime and maintain safety standards. The Maintenance Technician will collaborate closely with operations and management teams to prioritize maintenance tasks and implement preventive maintenance programs. By proactively identifying potential issues and addressing them promptly, the technician helps extend the lifespan of equipment and supports overall operational productivity. This role demands a hands‑on approach, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar role.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical certification or vocational training in maintenance, electrical, or mechanical fields.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems and controls.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • OSHA or other relevant safety certifications.
