Laborup is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician for our Birmingham area fabrication shop. You will own the health and efficiency of our machines, troubleshoot complex systems, and perform preventive maintenance on plasma equipment, brake presses, plate rolls, forklifts, and CNC gear.

The role requires 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to work overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Preventative Maintenance: Maintain heavy shop equipment including plasma machines, brake presses, plate rolls, forklifts, and CNC machinery.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime.
  • Proactive Inspections: Regular diagnostics and safety checks to prevent equipment failure.
  • Maintenance Operations: Keep accurate records, manage work orders, log tasks, and control spare parts inventory.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with production to schedule maintenance without disrupting operations.
  • Equipment Commissioning: Assist in setup, installation, and testing of new machinery and facility equipment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in initiatives to optimize equipment performance and reduce costs.

Your role involves troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, performing vital preventive maintenance, and driving continuous improvement to minimize downtime. Requirements Qualifications Required

  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Tooling: Proficiency in safely utilizing hand and power tools.
  • Problem Solving: High attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot complex breakdowns independently or as a team.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime and take on-call shifts to respond to equipment emergencies as needed.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred
  • Technical or trade school certification.
