Job summary

Christ the Redeemer Parish Lake Orion is seeking a part-time maintenance team member to perform basic maintenance and janitorial tasks at the church and parish house. The role covers facilities and grounds work, daily inspections, event setup, minor repairs, and weekly cleaning, with 15–19 hours per week and a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as maintenance worker or similar role.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems.
• Experience using hand and electrical tools.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift 50–75 pounds and climb ladders.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check, fingerprinting, and Safe Environment training required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic maintenance and janitorial tasks at church and parish house.
• Maintain facilities daily and address concerns needing attention.
• Set up and tear down for parish events.
• Complete maintenance requests and weekly janitorial duties.
• Assist with changing liturgical decorations and floor waxing.
• Mow lawn, salt sidewalks, and snow removal as needed.

Job description

Christ the Redeemer Parish Lake Orion is looking for a part time, skilled Maintenance team member to perform basic maintenance and janitorial tasks at the church and parish house. This is a part time job, approximately 15-19 hours a week, with flexible schedule.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Facilities and Grounds

• Basic lawn care, including mowing and trimming
• Clearing and salting sidewalks of snow during the winter, using parish equipment, such as snow blowers, salters and shovels

General Maintenance and Repair

• Perform minor repairs as needed
• Inspect facility daily, address concerns needing attention
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and organized work spaces
• Set up and tear down for parish events
• Complete maintenance requests
• Weekly janitorial duties
• Assist with changing liturgical decorations in the church
• Maintenance and waxing of church floor, including removing and adding chairs

Qualifications

• Proven experience as maintenance worker or other similar position
• Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems
• Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills
• Physical stamina and dexterity to life 50-75 pounds and climb ladders
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must submit to criminal background check, fingerprinting and complete Archdiocesan Safe Environment training prior to start
