Job summary

Metalsa is seeking a Maintenance Group Leader for the 3rd shift to lead a maintenance team and ensure safe, productive operations on the shop floor.

You will plan and implement process improvements, design tooling, manage spare parts, and mentor operators while coordinating with Quality and Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school education
• Associate degree or related experience preferred
• 2 years supervisory experience
• 2–5 years maintenance management experience within manufacturing
• Participation in MOS or similar leadership activity

Responsibilities

• Lead Maintenance group on 3rd shift and drive improvements.
• Plan, design, and implement process improvements for productivity, quality and safety.
• Design tooling and fixtures to support production.
• Forecast and control maintenance budget needs.
• Provide operator training and clear work instructions.
• Manage critical spare parts inventory and reorder parts as needed.
• Verify and modify PM schedules to keep production running.
• Plan daily/weekly/yearly repairs for production lines.
• Monitor overtime and control department costs.
• Maintain shop floor software/hardware related to maintenance.
• Assist Quality with process-related defects and fixes.
• Improve manufacturing processes and error-proofing systems.
• Communicate improvements to Quality and Manufacturing teams.
• Support Engineering in processing and implementing GM engineering changes.

Job Title: Maintenance Group Leader - 3rd shift

Mission

To lead Maintenance personnel and provide shop floor support.

What would your typical day look like?

• Lead Maintenance group
• Initiate, plan, design, and implement improvements to current processes to ensure productivity, quality, and safety.
• Design tooling and fixtures
• Forecast and control budget requirements for the maintenance department.
• Provide operator training, work instructions, and process control plans for implemented projects and improvements.
• Responsible for critical spare parts, order, track, and store stock parts required to maintain production needs.
• Verify Pm’s are completed, add, and modify Pm’s as needed to maintain production needs.
• Plan and manage daily, weekly, and yearly repairs for production.
• Budget, track, and control monthly overtime for department
• Control and maintain shop floor software and hardware as related to maintenance.
• Assist the Quality department with resolving process related quality defects relating to production.
• Maintain and improve manufacturing processes and error proofing systems.
• Communicate improvements to the Quality and Manufacturing departments.
• Assist the Product Engineering Group in processing, costing, implementing, launching, and maintaining GM engineering changes.

Academic and Experience

• Minimum high school education
• Associate degree in related field, or combination of education and related experience
• 2 years Supervisory experience
• 2 - 5 years maintenance management experience (installation, repair, maintenance of plant equipment.
• Participation in a significant role on the MOS, either deploying a practice, training in a tool or methodology, leading problem solving or other applied leadership experience.

Technical Skills

• Proficient computer skills/Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point)
• Proficient in equipment trouble shooting.
• Proficient with CadKey light or AutoCAD
• Thorough understanding of Ladder Logic
• Interpret Blueprints, material specifications, and other customer requirements.
• Proficient with programming logic controllers such as Allen Bradley and GE Fanuc
• PLC, robots and Automation
• Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Drives, Electrical and Quality Management System
