Job summary

Carlisle Brake & Friction Inc is seeking a Maintenance Team Lead to oversee maintenance of industrial equipment with focus on mechanical power transmission, hydraulics, and pneumatics. The role requires troubleshooting of PLCs, robots, CNC, and various controls, with hands-on fabrication and safety compliance during breakdowns and upgrades.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Follow the daily Leadership Standard work format to maintain shift consistency.
  • Facilitate written and verbal communications at shift change for smooth transitions.
  • May require extended hours during breakdowns and repairs.
  • Maintain a professional atmosphere and drive 5S results.
  • Verify CMMS work is completed before turnover to the next shift.
  • Ensure work meets Carlisle Safety, Environmental, and Reliability standards.
  • Respond to machine breakdowns and troubleshoot/repair equipment.
  • Identify root causes and suggest preventive actions.
  • Follow instructions for scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering to upgrade equipment for safety and reliability.
  • Work on machine rebuild projects and install/rearrange equipment.
  • Operate band saws, drill presses, grinders, and MIG welders for fabrication.
  • Identify and order components needed for jobs and estimate time accurately.
  • Interface with CMMS to retrieve work orders, issue parts, and close records.
  • Perform cleaning tasks, floor care, and waste collection as needed.
  • Support the Carlisle Operating System and lean initiatives.
  • Be willing to travel occasionally (<5%) and work flexible hours, including weekends.

Description

Personal Characteristics:

Candidate will have competent troubleshooting skills in PLC programming, servo systems, industrial controls, motor controls and electric circuits. Thorough knowledge and/or experience in industrial automation networks, safety devices, and electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic systems. Basic understanding CAD (AutoCAD). Individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and/or in a cross-functional work team environment. Individual must possess strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting abilities.

Principal Area of Responsibility:

Individual will be responsible to perform tasks required to maintain our industrial equipment and facility at an optimal level of operation with an emphasis on mechanical power transmission, hydraulics and pneumatics, welding and fabricating, pipe fitting, and constriction trades. Maintenance experience with industrial controls, 480-volt 3 phase electrical feeders, machining, robotics, and CNC is a plus. Individual will be required to work on mechanical and hydraulic presses, furnaces, grinders, steel preparation and coating equipment, gear shapers, robotics, CNC machining centers, laser cutters, gear shapers, dust and fume collection equipment, and HVAC equipment.

Work Experience:

Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong working knowledge of mechanical power transmission, hydraulics and pneumatics, welding and fabricating, pipe fitting, and constriction trades. Must possess strong communication skills, analytical abilities and the ability to multi-task.

Specific Duties: Maintenance Team Lead

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor the position will be responsible to:

  • Follow the daily Leadership Standard work format to maintain consistency between shifts
  • Facilitate both written and verbal communications at shift change to ensure a smooth transition between shifts
  • May require extended hours on break downs and repairs
  • Maintain a professional atmosphere
  • Drive 5S results within their respective teams
  • Verify CMMS work is completed prior to turnover
  • Follow up with techs to ensure work is meeting the Carlisle standards for Safety, Environmental and Reliability of assets
  • Respond to machine breakdowns. Work independently or as part of a group to troubleshoot and repair existing equipment and facility systems
  • Identify root cause of equipment failures and suggest preventive actions
  • Follow written instructions to perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities
  • Work with engineering to upgrade existing equipment for enhanced safety, functionality, and/or reliability
  • Work on machine rebuild projects
  • Support the installation of new equipment or rearrangement of existing equipment. This includes running utilities, working with trucking and rigging contractors, accurately positioning equipment to a provided layout, leveling equipment, and pre-startup safety checks
  • Operate band saws, drill presses, bench grinders and MIG welders to design and fabricate items such as workbenches, platforms, fixtures, and carts
  • Identify and order machine components and materials required to complete any given job
  • Accurately estimate time required to complete any given job
  • Interface with our computerized maintenance management system to retrieve work orders and preventive maintenance activities, issues parts, and record closing information
  • Carry out cleaning activities whenever necessary. This includes floor sweeping and scrubbing, trash removal, and collection of waste oil and water
  • Support the Carlisle Operating System (lean manufacturing) with an emphasis on improving our Total Productive Maintenance initiative
  • Work flexible hours, be willing to stay over to complete critical tasks, and work weekend hours when needed
  • Must be willing and able to travel occasionally as required (not typically a part of job function, for training purposes, <5%)
