Responsibilities

• Conduct daily facility safety inspections and open work orders as needed.
• Help improve PM plans for plant equipment.
• Pull reports to support maintenance planning and audits.
• Support compliance paperwork such as arc flash, PSM/RMP, relief valve records.
• Work with Maintenance Supervisor on open work orders and PM completion.
• Keep accurate records for internal and regulatory audits.
• Follow food safety (cGMP) rules in production and packaging areas.
• Handle hazardous and universal waste per rules and procedures.

Job Description

Maintenance Systems Coordinator
GAC Chemical Corporation | Full Time | Day Shift | Reports to the Maintenance & Projects Director

GAC Chemical is looking for an organized, computer-savvy person to run the systems side of our Maintenance Department. This role splits time between the office and the plant floor. You'll keep our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) accurate and up to date, and you'll do daily safety inspections around the facility, turning anything you find into work orders so it gets fixed.

No prior experience is required, but you need to be comfortable with computers and learn new software quickly. If you like keeping things organized and want to learn how an industrial plant is maintained, this is a good place to start.

What you'll do

• Manage the CMMS day to day: enter and close work orders, schedule preventive maintenance (PM), maintain the task library, and run reports.
• Build and clean up the asset list in the CMMS, including naming, categories, and how equipment is grouped.
• Track plant equipment inventory and put barcode tags on assets throughout the facility.
• Do daily facility safety inspections, document what you find, and open work orders for anything that needs attention.
• Help improve and reorganize PM plans for plant equipment.
• Pull reports to support maintenance planning, compliance records, and decision making.
• Support compliance paperwork such as arc flash, PSM/RMP, relief valve records, and safety equipment records.
• Work with the Maintenance Supervisor on open work orders, priorities, and PM completion.
• Keep accurate records for internal and regulatory audits.
• Follow food safety (cGMP) rules when working in the ammonium sulfate production and packaging areas.
• Handle hazardous and universal waste according to state and federal rules and GAC procedures.

What we're looking for

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong computer skills. Comfortable with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Detail oriented and organized.
• Self-motivated and able to juggle priorities without a lot of supervision.
• Comfortable working both at a desk and out in an active chemical plant.

Nice to have

• Experience with a CMMS, asset management software, or databases.
• Associate's degree or coursework in a technical, administrative, or information systems field.
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Training

We'll train you. New hires complete online training through our Vector Solutions training platform along with hands-on training in the plant.

Physical demands and work environment

Regular standing and walking during inspections, and extended periods at a computer. Occasional stairs, ladders, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Plant areas involve moving equipment, chemicals, fumes, outdoor weather, and moderate to high noise. PPE is provided and required in the plant.
