Job summary

Peco-Foods is seeking a Night Shift Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance operations in a poultry/food processing environment. You will oversee safety, efficiency, and uptime, coaching technicians and coordinating with Production, Sanitation, QA, and Operations to meet goals.

The ideal candidate has hands-on maintenance leadership in food manufacturing, with 3–5 years of industrial maintenance and 3+ years supervising a team of five or more.

Qualifications

  • Food manufacturing maintenance experience is required.
  • 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience leading a maintenance team of five or more employees.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and industrial processing equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, bearings, and automated production equipment.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with maintenance work order systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and develop the night shift maintenance team through coaching, training, performance management, and daily direction.
  • Supervise a team of five or more maintenance employees, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards.
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign maintenance work orders based on production needs and equipment criticality.
  • Coordinate with Production, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Sanitation to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency.
  • Ensure timely completion of preventive maintenance schedules and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveyor system issues while providing technical guidance to maintenance technicians.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and preventative maintenance practices.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with all food safety, USDA, OSHA, GMP, and company policies.
  • Enforce all safety procedures and maintain a strong safety culture through training, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Investigate equipment failures, safety incidents, and maintenance-related issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, downtime reports, and labor documentation within the maintenance management system.
  • Manage shift staffing, scheduling, attendance, and overtime while maintaining productivity expectations.
  • Train and mentor maintenance technicians to improve technical knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and overall performance.
  • Communicate equipment status, shift activities, and outstanding maintenance issues to the Maintenance Manager and incoming supervisors during shift transitions.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, plant improvement projects, and capital initiatives as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

Job description

The Night Shift Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading all maintenance operations during the assigned shift to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of processing equipment throughout the facility. This position supervises the maintenance team, prioritizes repairs, coordinates preventive maintenance activities, and works closely with Production, Sanitation, Quality Assurance, and Operations to maximize equipment uptime while maintaining food safety, employee safety, and production goals.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong maintenance background in food manufacturing , proven experience supervising maintenance personnel, and the ability to develop and coach technicians while driving accountability and continuous improvement.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • This position is performed in a poultry processing/food manufacturing environment.
  • Frequent exposure to cold, wet, humid, and noisy conditions.
  • Regular standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and around moving machinery while following all safety procedures.
  • Required to wear all designated personal protective equipment (PPE).
Schedule
  • Night Shift Position
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as production needs require.
  • Must be available for emergency call-ins and equipment breakdowns when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience supervising maintenance in a poultry, meat processing, or other food manufacturing facility.
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Knowledge of USDA regulations, HACCP, GMPs, and food safety standards.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and production efficiency.
