Job summary

ADM in Decatur, IL is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance and contract staff in mechanical and I&E. The role drives a safe, reliable maintenance program, coaches staff, and ensures quality work completed safely.

You will supervise daily activities, use CMMS for records, monitor performance against standards, oversee projects, and collaborate with operations leadership to minimize disruption. This is a 12-hour rotating shift position.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED; engineering degree or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Experience supervising maintenance teams in an industrial setting.
  • Strong safety, GMP compliance, and quality mindset.
  • Ability to coach and develop staff, manage priorities, and communicate clearly.

  • Ensure safety, quality, and GMP rules are followed during maintenance work.
  • Coach team on performance, attendance, safety, and appraisal criteria.
  • Use CMMS and systems to maintain records for analysis and reporting.
  • Monitor work against standards for quantity, quality and safe practices.
  • Oversee construction scheduling and plan coordination with operations.
  • Build strong working relationships with operations leadership.

Job Description: Maintenance Supervisor - Decatur, IL

This is an exempt level position.

Job Summary

This position supervises maintenance and contract employees (mechanical and I&E) to ensure a reliable and safe Maintenance program for the facility. Drives continuous improvement through effective feedback and process documentation. They will take an active role in coaching employees to reach their fullest potential by providing feedback in a manner that is effective, consistent and fair. Leads maintenance technicians to ensure quality work is completed safely and efficiently. This position is a 12 hour rotating shift position.

Essential Job Functions
  • Responsible for ensuring proper execution of scheduled maintenance work as planned by the Maintenance Planner
  • Supervises the day to day activities of maintenance mechanics and specialists
  • Insures that all safety and GMP rules are being followed while work is being performed
  • Coach employees in the areas of job performance, attendance, safety and other related appraisal criteria
  • Uses CMMS and other computer systems to maintain records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance information
  • Monitor work accomplished for quantity, quality, safe work practices, and GMPs against accepted department and company standards
  • Support and comply with all food safety, quality, and legality requirements
  • Oversee project construction work, including construction scheduling according to plant priorities keeping in mind the need to minimize disruption to plant operations; aspects of oversight, include developing plans as well as coordinating parts, materials, equipment, and manpower
  • Establish and maintain a mutual relationship with relevant operations leadership
Job Qualifications
  • Must be able to enforce expectations for safety, reliability, quality, service and productivity
  • Good decision making ability and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Products and Computerized Maintenance Management Software
  • Demonstrated supervisory, leadership experience and ability to drive team excellence
  • Must be customer focused and be proactive in dealing with conflict, influencing others, listening, management of priorities, organization & planning, partnering, and utilizing a proactive approach to reliability
Education/Training
  • Minimum of a high school diploma/GED, engineering degree, or apprentice training (refer to regional requirements)
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation related field is preferred
Experience
  • Strong demonstrated expertise in either mechanical or I&E maintenance, with in-depth exposure to the other area (mechanical or I&E maintenance)
  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience preferred
