Job summary

CJ Schwan’s in Marshall, MN, is hiring a Day Supervisor at the Specialty Foods Plant to lead maintenance activities, ensure safety, and drive reliability across production lines. You will manage preventive, corrective, and reactive maintenance, coach the team, and coordinate with contractors to keep equipment available and compliant with quality standards.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of related experience, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and strong knowledge of maintenance technologies,

Qualifications

• 3+ years related experience in maintenance/supervision.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of fasteners, lubrication, mechanical drives, pneumatics, hydraulics, fabrication, electrical systems, refrigeration, boilers, HVAC, and control systems.
• Working knowledge of food plant production equipment preferred.
• Familiarity with safety regulations (EPA, USDA) preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience required.
• Basic math and reporting skills; SAP experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily maintenance activities (preventive, corrective, reactive).
• Monitor KPIs, equipment reliability, and drive root cause analysis.
• Oversee repairs, outages, contractors and vendor work.
• Manage maintenance budget, CMMS (SAP PM) compliance, and spare parts.
• Improve shop organization using 5S and defect elimination.
• Develop and manage maintenance team, including hiring and performance.
• Ensure adherence to company values, policies and conduct standards.

What You Will Do:

• Ensure a safe work environment and full compliance with company, state, and federal safety regulations.
• Lead and prioritize daily maintenance activities (preventive, corrective, and reactive) to support production needs.
• Monitor and drive maintenance KPIs, equipment reliability, and root cause problem-solving efforts.
• Oversee equipment repairs, outages, contractors, and vendor work execution.
• Manage maintenance budget, CMMS compliance (SAP PM or equivalent), and spare parts availability.
• Improve shop organization and equipment condition through 5S, CIL, and defect elimination practices.
• Develop, coach, and manage maintenance team members, including hiring and performance management.
• Promote adherence to company values, policies, and standards of conduct.

What We Look For:

• Typically has 3+ years related experience
• Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred
• Must have knowledge and skills in the technologies of fasteners, lubrication, mechanical drive systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, fabrication, electrical power systems, electrical control systems, production/process, refrigeration, boilers, HVAC, and computerized maintenance management systems.
• Working knowledge of food plant production and processing equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety, EPA regulations, USDA and sanitation standards preferred.
• Must have previous supervisor experience.
• Basic PC skills including expertise with MS Office and Outlook. SAP experience beneficial.
• Must have basic mathematical and problem-solving skills to generate and maintain departmental reports.
• Must be capable and willing to work any shift and be on 24-hour call for emergency situations as necessary.

What We Offer:

The base salary range for this position is $68,000 to $113,000 annually, with eligibility for a 10 % annual incentive bonus based on organizational performance. The range reflects factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and location, and starting salary may fall anywhere within the stated range.
