Job summary

National Beef in North Baltimore, OH is seeking a qualified 2nd Shift Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance team, oversee preventive maintenance, and ensure safety, food safety, OSHA and company standards in a 2nd shift operation. You will coach, train, and evaluate staff, coordinate with other departments, and manage urgent repairs.

The role requires strong planning, communication, and problem-solving skills, with experience in PLC/controls and refrigeration a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be able to identify issues and decide on actions
• Must be able to plan maintenance schedules
• Strong written and oral communication skills required
• Excellent interpersonal and delegation abilities
• Ability to analyze and solve problems
• Proficient with computers and MS Office
• Experience with PLCs and controls preferred
• Refrigeration experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance activities for 2nd shift while upholding Safety and Food Safety standards
• Coach, train, instruct, develop, and evaluate maintenance team members
• Audit and eliminate unsafe hazards in the plant
• Ensure adherence to plant policies, Lock Out/Tag Out, and safety standards
• Collaborate with other departments on maintenance issues
• Handle conflict resolution
• Motivate team to meet goals while maintaining accountability
• Manage emergency response and incidents
• Coordinate daily direction with First Shift supervisor
• Lead or participate in process improvement efforts
• Use E-Maintenance software to track work orders
• Analyze downtime to optimize PM schedules and uptime
• Assist with troubleshooting and repair of down equipment
• Conduct performance evaluations
• Routinely inspect building and grounds
• Perform other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance activities for 2nd shift keeping consistent with Safety, Food Safety, OSHA, and National Beef standards
• Coach, train, instruct, develop, and evaluate maintenance team members
• Audit and eliminate any unsafe hazards in the plant
• Ensure that all team members adhere to plant policies, Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, and safety standards
• Collaborate with other departments regarding maintenance issues
• Conflict resolution
• Motivate maintenance team to achieve goals and standards while holding them accountable
• Emergency management
• Communication/hand-off with first shift and third shift team
• Work with the First Shift supervisor for daily direction and goal setting for the maintenance department
• Lead or participate in process improvement activities
• Use E-Maintenance software to track open and completed work for the department
• Use downtime reports and other data to optimize equipment PM’s and increase equipment uptime
• Assist with troubleshooting and repair of down equipment
• Conduct performance evaluations
• Routinely inspect various elements of the building and grounds
• Other duties as assigned

This is a safety sensitive position. This is an ON-SITE position.
