Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates’ degree in machine maintenance and repair or equivalent preferred.
  • Five years prior experience in installation, maintenance, and the repair of machines and equipment required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises workers engaged in painting and structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings.
  • Oversees ground maintenance such as mowing, trimming, and waste removal.
  • Maintains buildings through cleaning, buffing, dusting, and polishing.
  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs on machines/tools.
  • Coordinates with other departments and assists with moving furniture and storing supplies.
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints and standards.

Summary

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, The Maintenance Supervisor oversees and coordinates activities of all workers engaged in maintaining and repairing equipment and physical structures of buildings and grounds

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Supervises workers engaged in the following activities:
  • painting and performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings.
  • ground maintenance activities, such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse.
  • general cleaning and up keep of buildings, including buffing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and washing windows.
  • Machines/Tools routine maintenance and repairs
  • assisting other departments as requested, including moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Performs maintenance activities as needed
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates’ degree in machine maintenance and repair or equivalent preferred
  • Five years prior experience in installation, maintenance, and the repair of machines and equipment required
Other Skills
  • Ability to work in a team-centered atmosphere and select and train new employees.
  • Ability to effectively coach, monitor, and discipline employees.
  • Ability to initiate, coordinate, and enforce operational and personnel policies and procedures.
Language Skills

An individual must be able to effectively resolve maintenance problems by often discussing matters with management and quality control personnel. Ability to use effective communication skills with all maintenance staff for the overall operation of the department.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
