Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Yellow Springs, Ohio

About Us

Founded in 1946, Morris Bean & Company is an aluminum foundry with a rich history of craftsmanship and continuous improvement. Originally part of Antioch College, we’ve grown into a 185,000-square-foot facility on a 60-acre campus in Yellow Springs, Ohio. We specialize in gravity and low-pressure casting of aluminum alloys in the 300 series, utilizing a wide range of molding processes including Antioch plaster, air-set sand, cold-box sand, and permanent/semi-permanent molds.

Our castings serve mission-critical applications in air and gas separation, commercial refrigeration, diesel locomotives, medical equipment, pump systems, energy production, and defense industries.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead and support our maintenance team in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of plant equipment and facilities. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a solid technical foundation, strong communication skills, and a focus on proactive maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily work activities of the maintenance staff.
• Promote a culture of safety and compliance with company policies and regulatory standards (GMP, LOTO, Hot Work, etc.).
• Collaborate across departments to quickly and effectively resolve equipment-related issues.
• Ensure completion of preventive maintenance tasks and work to minimize unscheduled downtime.
• Communicate clearly and proactively about safety, productivity, and maintenance issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve maintenance efficiency and reduce long-term costs.

Performance Metrics

• Preventive maintenance task completion (daily, weekly, monthly)
• Equipment uptime and maintenance response times
• Solid understanding of 3-phase and low-voltage electrical systems (including 480V AC)
• Skilled in mechanical systems, including gearboxes, bearings, rotating equipment, and machine assembly/disassembly
• Welding and fabrication experience
• Familiarity with electrical components such as photo eyes and proximity switches
• Competence in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems using schematics, drawings, and diagnostic tools
• Basic knowledge of PLC systems (non-programmer level troubleshooting)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience operating forklifts and boom lifts
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in tight or confined spaces
• General plumbing experience (PVC, copper, stainless steel, black iron)
• Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills

Education & Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 3 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated experience in supervision or team leadership

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering, industrial technology, or related field
• 5–7 years of experience in a similar maintenance leadership role
