Job summary

UFP Industries is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor responsible for direct supervision and coordination of the maintenance department, its programs, and support services. This role emphasizes training and development of employees and overseeing preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.

The candidate will lead safety initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and coordinate with other departments to meet production needs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in machine repair and maintenance.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience managing people.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology, and welding.
  • Working knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and hazardous materials handling.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook and other business software.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Post-high school education is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in interviews and hiring processes.
  • Orientates and trains maintenance personnel.
  • Coaches, counsels employees, and initiates discipline as required.
  • Evaluates the performance of subordinates.
  • Develops and implements preventative and other maintenance programs to ensure proper equipment operation.
  • Identifies, researches, and resolves problems.
  • Coordinates maintenance activities with the operating department's requirements.
  • Leads employees in continuous improvement and safety initiatives.
  • Performs regular/preventative maintenance on all machinery, tools, and buildings.
  • Develops, implements, and supervises the plant’s Preventive Maintenance program.
  • Repairs machinery, equipment, buildings, and other Company assets in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, and manufacturing specifications, or by management request.
  • Orders supplies and parts as required, at competitive pricing and rates.
  • Maintains records of repair/maintenance activities, per Company policy.
  • Prepares other reports as required.
  • Performs duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of hazardous wage and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
  • Working knowledge of the use of precision tools, measuring instruments, and other hand tools
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and other business software
  • Preferred understanding of company policies, practices, and procedures
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
