Job summary

San Angelo ISD is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead district facilities maintenance, ensuring safety compliance and efficient operation across buildings. The role reports to the Director of Facilities & Maintenance and requires strong leadership and organizational skills.

Job Description

POSITION TITLE:Maintenance Supervisor

EXEMPTION STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities & Maintenance

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:12 months

Primary Purpose

Supervise and direct areas of maintenance as assigned. Maintain compliance with safety laws and statutes.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

High School diploma or GED

Associate Degree, preferred

Certification through Texas Association of School Business Officials, preferred

Industry related licenses, certifications, permits, and updates in local, state and federal regulations and laws

Valid Texas driver’s license

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of compliance related rules, laws and regulations

Ability to interpret and disseminate information to individuals and groups

Ability to manage personnel

Ability to analyze and interpret data, and blueprints

Ability to use computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, create project drawings and perform word processing

Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills

Minimum Experience

Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; clear driving record

Major Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Assist the Director in performing duties and supervising areas of maintenance as assigned.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining department operation manuals.
  • Ensure district radios are operational and repaired as needed.
  • Compile, maintain, and file physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents.
  • Assist workers in performing duties, as needed.
  • Ensure assigned employees follow timekeeping procedures and maintain accurate staff information for payroll record reporting including absences and late arrivals.
  • Work irregular hours and respond to emergencies after hours.

Compliance Management

  • Review, coordinate, and schedule inspections for issues related to the Americans with Disabilities Act, boilers, elevators, chairlifts, fire safety, and grit & grease traps.
  • Develop guidelines for annual fire/sprinkler inspections and collaborate with the purchasing department in vendor relations.
  • Maintain inventory of department tools and equipment.
  • Maintain the District’s chemical safety data sheet program and provide information to employees and healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Serve as the District’s asbestos coordinator and maintain records on all asbestos containing facilities and removal records.
  • Inspect, coordinate and purchase signage required by federal, state and local guidelines.
  • Maintain site specific facility information as needed for department use
  • Comply with all state and federal laws and local policies.

Safety

  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and immediately report any conditions that are not correctable to the Director.
  • Interpret District policies and procedures to assigned staff and enforce safety regulations.

Professional Growth and Development

  • Participate in professional learning, training programs, staff meetings, and special events as assigned.
  • Conduct meetings and training for employees as needed.

Communication

  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of departments and communicate with principals and supervisors to complete projects.
  • Observe the standards of conduct for employees and comply with department and District procedures and policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Articulate the District’s mission and goals to the community and present a positive image of the District.

Supervisory Responsiblities

  • Supervise, evaluate, and conduct annual employee appraisals
  • Review and sign-off on timesheets for payroll

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer, peripherals, devices, telephone, two-way radio; light truck or van
