Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor schedules, coordinates, and supervises maintenance crew members' preventive/predictive maintenance and mechanical repair activities for plant operations and capital projects, including all safety-related items. Uses independent judgment in performing duties while working from general policies, objectives, and standards. Refers to the superintendent/manager for clarification or interpretation of organizational policy and in case of unusual problems.

What you'll be contributing:
  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Provide technical assistance in the safe use of tools and equipment, and train employees on proper procedures, techniques, and safety precautions.
  • Schedule and coordinate preventive/predictive maintenance, mechanical repairs, installation of new equipment, improvements, and other maintenance projects.
  • Inspect job sites to identify hazards and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Operate computerized preventive maintenance systems to prepare work orders, document activities, and maintain records.
  • Assess and give performance feedback to the maintenance crew; maintain attendance and paid time-off records.
  • Write and modify job procedures for new and existing jobs.
  • Estimate time and parts needed for projects and repairs.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure availability of required supplies.
  • Assist in contacting vendors and contractors as needed.
  • Conduct safety meetings and inspections regularly.
  • Participate in plant safety meetings.
  • Supervise contractors for maintenance activities.
  • Assist in preparing budgets for maintenance projects and repairs.
  • Participate in monthly conference calls with MEP.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
To succeed in this position, you will need:
  • Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, and signs.
  • Associate's Degree or technical degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory/maintenance experience in engineering or facility management.
  • Proficient in English communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and blueprints.
  • Aptitude for learning new software.
  • Knowledge of plant equipment and machinery functions.
  • Understanding of government regulations such as EPA and MSHA.
  • Knowledge of various equipment and systems used in the plant.
