The maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing a team of maintenance technicians or workers to ensure the efficient and effective operation of maintenance and repair activities within the organization. This role involves planning, coordinating, and overseeing various maintenance tasks while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and budgetary constraints.
Major tasks, responsibilities, and key accountabilities:
Supervision and Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of maintenance personnel.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Maintenance Planning and Scheduling
- Plan and schedule maintenance tasks, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
- Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize downtime and disruptions to operations.
- Maintain a maintenance calendar and ensure adherence to schedules.
Budget Management
- Manage the maintenance budget, including expense tracking and cost control measures.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficient resource allocation.
Safety and compliance
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are conducted safely and in compliance with relevant safety regulations and standards.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and provide training to maintenance staff.
Equipment and Facility Maintenance
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and service of machinery, equipment, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment, maintenance, history and inspections.
Inventory Management
- Manage maintenance-related inventory, spare parts, and supplies.
- Ensure adequate stock levels while minimizing excess inventory.
Vendor and Contractor Coordination
- Coordinate with external vendors, suppliers, and contractors as needed for specialized maintenance tasks.
- Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate contracts when necessary.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment manuals.
- Generate reports on maintenance performance, expenses, and equipment reliability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 10+ years' experience in relevant industrial operations setting
- Strong OSHA knowledge and experience
- At least 2 years managing others
Working Conditions
Comfortable working in various environmental conditions (indoor, outdoor, confined spaces) and cold environment.
