Aerotek is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor in Detroit, MI to supervise and coordinate production and maintenance activities, ensuring smooth operations and quality output. You will lead a team of 15+ UAW-represented hourly workers, manage timekeeping, and drive adherence to standard work and QA procedures.

Responsibilities include optimizing methods, resolving problems with staff, implementing tracking and QA systems, and coaching staff for professional growth.

  • Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
  • Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems to detect production problems.
  • Recruit, train, evaluate, and discharge staff in accordance with policies.
  • Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records.
  • Ensure axle assemblies meet customer, engineering, and manufacturing specs.
  • Lead root-cause analysis for quality concerns using structured problem-solving methods.
  • Maintain process discipline to minimize scrap, rework, and warranty risk.
  • Execute daily production schedules based on OEM line-ups.
  • Monitor daily output, downtime, staffing, and production constraints.
  • Escalate production risks before impact on delivery.
  • Coordinate with Logistics, Maintenance, Engineering, and Planning to address disruptions.
  • Ensure smooth shift transitions through effective communication and documentation.
  • Directly manage a team of 15 or more UAW-represented hourly employees.
  • Manage timekeeping, absenteeism, and accountability per the union agreement.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and follow through consistently.
  • Address conflict early and work collaboratively to resolve issues.
  • Develop employees through coaching, training, and feedback.

Work Environment

The work environment is a UAW plant with a casual dress code. The position requires supervising 10 union employees within the machining department, mainly material handlers. The role involves handling stress and working weekends, as well as covering absenteeism with 12-hour shifts. The plant operates on the 2nd shift from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Detroit, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
