Job summary

Stryten Energy is seeking a Maintenance Manager for its Columbus, IN facility to oversee maintenance activities, manage staff, and ensure safety regulations are followed. Job description

Overview

Stryten Energy, manufactures proprietary and custom injection molding products serving the industrial lead battery, automotive and consumer markets. Stryten Energy is expanding battery poly manufacturing and recycling output to help solve industry-wide supply constraints.

This role is responsible for managing day-to-day activities involving the maintenance of the building/facility, production equipment, and machinery. Duties include HVAC, building lighting systems, equipment installation, new building construction, grounds keeping, and overall facility appearance. The role performs complex electrical installation and repair work and supervises employees who repair and maintain building/facility, equipment and machinery.

This is a first shift opening (Monday-Friday; 7am - 3pm).

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and perform all supervisory responsibilities for assigned staff, including scheduling, prioritizing and assigning work, training, hiring, and addressing or documenting performance or disciplinary issues.
  • Review work orders and other work requests. Plan, organize, direct, and control activities related to production and building maintenance.
  • Respond to emergencies as requested. Direct staff and utilize resources to complete repairs and ensure employee safety. Coordinate maintenance activities in consideration of production schedules and departmental demands.
  • Develop and maintain a Preventive Maintenance Schedule program for applicable equipment and machinery.
  • Inspect projects assigned to staff and develop and recommend improvements or changes when needed.
  • Answer questions and provide information related to projects, including resolving problems, approving expenditures, handling complaints, and providing technical expertise in the area of assignment.
  • Arrange for and manage appropriate third‑party contractor support as needed. Research vendors and suppliers to determine best products and services for the company, secure contracts, and oversee delivery and contractor work to ensure compliance with safe work practices and SOPs.
  • Provide input into the development of the operating budget for the assigned area, order materials and supplies, and assist in monitoring and tracking expenditures, including supplies, labor, and outside contractors.
  • Participate in weekly management meetings and provide project status information to management staff.
  • Actively support new facility construction or remodeling projects, equipment assembly or modification, design electrical and mechanical systems and equipment, oversee installation, and develop prototypes of new machines.
  • Prepare records related to work performed and materials used; enter invoices in the computerized purchasing system.
  • Comply with company and OSHA safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. Ensure safety training is provided and that proper safety practices are followed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline preferred.
  • High School Diploma with Industrial Maintenance coursework.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, including knowledge of PLCs, HVAC systems, and electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and MEP software.
  • Proven technical aptitude for electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Understanding of industrial maintenance systems.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and create a sense of urgency for completion.
  • Independent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Proficiency with budgeting, continuous improvement / lean management, and performance management.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations as they pertain to this facility.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements as they pertain to this facility.
  • Ability to work all shifts.
  • Ability to follow all environmental, health, and safety procedures.
  • Proven satisfactory work history (attendance and performance). Attendance is critical.
Environment & Physical Demands

This role is located at the Columbus, IN manufacturing site. The facility operates 24/7, and as a member of the Leadership Team the Maintenance Manager must always be available in case of emergency.

Essential job functions require frequent physical demands, including lifting and carrying items over 50 lbs., using ladders, catwalks, and scaffolding, and the ability to sit, stand, kneel, crawl, and stoop regularly. Regular attendance, following instructions, understanding workplace materials, and communicating with others are essential for success.
