A maintenance firm in Death Valley is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee a team responsible for facility upkeep and repair tasks. This role includes supervising maintenance requests, ensuring the availability of materials, and managing a daily work plan. Ideal candidates should possess strong supervisory skills, experience in general maintenance or construction, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. A high school diploma and relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• 2 years of general maintenance and/or construction experience.

• Must be able to work on ladders and scaffolding.
• Basic to intermediate computer skills (Word/Excel).

Responsibilities

• Supervise team members in maintenance tasks across the property.
• Inspect and ensure completion of maintenance requests.
• Manage parts inventory efficiently for general stock.
• Oversee pool and surrounding grounds repairs and inspections.
• Manage daily work plans and flow of work orders.
• Complete departmental reports for Maintenance Manager review.
• Report attendance and performance issues to the Maintenance Manager.
• Provide hands-on repairs across maintenance disciplines when needed.

Job description

Death Valley Lodging Company (NEG282, LLC) is located in the heart of Death Valley National Park. We're just minutes away from the Mesquite Sand Dunes that are so spectacular when enjoyed under our internationally acclaimed night skies.

Summary of Position

Supervise a team which may include General Maintenance I & II, HVAC I & II, Maintenance Utility, Shuttle Driver and/or a Plumbing Techs who work on a wide variety of general facility maintenance, repair and upkeep tasks throughout the property, focusing on all Park buildings as well as grounds.

Responsibilities

• Supervise receipt and completion of revenue and general Maintenance Requests (MRs) as required by Guest Services and employees
• Identify and ensure that all materials and tools are available at job sites as required by the HVAC, General Maintenance or Maintenance Utility technicians in order to complete MRs
• Inspect and ensure that all MRs are completed as planned
• Ensure that repairs and inspections of the pool, pool equipment, pool buildings and surrounding grounds are completed in a timely manner
• Ensure that Maintenance team is following the daily designated work plan and manage the flow of work orders
• Ensure that all identified departmental reports are completed as scheduled for review and sign off by the Maintenance Manager
• Apprise Maintenance Manager of any and all employee attendance and performance issues
• Ensure that the Maintenance Manager is apprised, on a daily basis, of the status of all ongoing projects
• Tasks may include painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, concrete, heating, welding, roofing and other related jobs
• Assist on assigned maintenance and mechanical duties for buildings and associated facilities, furnishings and equipment
• Assist the Maintenance Manager in problem resolution as needed
• Capable of independent “hands on repairs” in all maintenance disciplines
• Efficiently and in a timely manner, manage parts inventory for general stock
• Comply with safety policies and procedures including when lifting, climbing, etc.
• Ensure polite, knowledgeable and timely customer service when responding to visitor inquiries

Position Requirements

• Basic to Intermediate computer skill level to include Word and Excel
• Demonstrate skill in the use of tools, materials and equipment common to maintenance and repair
• Must be able to work on ladders, scaffolding, elevated platforms or catwalks, crawl spaces, tunnels, ledges and roofs
• Understand and effectively follow oral and written instructions
• Strong people skills; supervisory assertiveness with the ability to coach, train and mentor staff
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be able to work a variety of day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts
• Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally
• Must have a valid driver license to operate vehicles throughout property

Education and Experience

Education: High school Diploma or equivalent preferred

Technical/trade school diploma or equivalent training

Experience: 2 years general maintenance and/or construction Park experience
