Maintenance Superintendent – Ama, LA

This is a full-time, exempt position.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Superintendent has overall responsibility for the material condition of the facility infrastructure. The focus of this position is to maximize reliable utilities for the complex. Optimize all equipment availability, minimize upkeep costs and manage expenditures related to equipment, spare parts, and consumable items. The Maintenance Superintendent supports the plant production effort and must provide high quality repair and maintenance services that enable the plant to meet production goals. Activities include operational effectiveness, continuous improvement techniques, proactive and precision maintenance, planning and scheduling, contractor management, vendor and spare parts management, implementation of best practices and programs, training and development.

Job Responsibilities
  • Proactively work to ensure that all ADM employees, visitors, vendors and contractors understand and comply with the ADM safety policies and procedures.
  • Establish clear goals, priorities, and performance expectations for the maintenance team, while monitoring progress and holding team members accountable for results
  • Support and actively participate in facility Performance Excellence initiatives, promoting employee engagement, continuous improvement, operational reliability, and sustainable results.
  • Support the production departments in the areas of safety and quality, including audit compliance.
  • Align, deploy and execute the ADM Maintenance and Reliability vision/strategy.
  • Maintain the utilities equipment to function as designed or expected.
  • Provide ownership and oversight of the maintenance operating budget, including annual budget development, cost forecasting, expenditure approval, variance analysis and financial reporting.
  • Manage and execute capital and expense projects for the facility, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with established scope and quality expectations.
  • Develop, review, and analyze maintenance/reliability maintenance metrics and performance relating to project execution
  • Coordinate the maintenance program to schedule work with/around the production schedule.
  • Manage ongoing maintenance and reliability related projects (asset reliability and defect elimination).
  • Identifies training opportunities, needs and facilitates training sessions for maintenance personnel, focusing on precision skills training and development, safety practices and work standards. May provide ad-hoc technical support as needed.
  • Partner with the business areas and (key) shareholders to manage expectations of the project outcome as well as to receive consensus for project implementations while leading a team of people to execute on various project initiatives
  • Define project scope and plan for delivery for projects according roles & responsibility matrix. Execute the project, including costing and implementation according the FEL guidelines.
  • Monitoring of project results including budget and quality.
  • Assuring monthly project reporting to partners
  • Advising stakeholders when contingency needs to be used
  • Complying to local legislation and ADM requirements like IPPC permits, safety legislation, HACCP, GMP, Hazop as well as TPS policy.
  • Supporting and driving contractor safety.
  • Assure that the safety and reliability of existing equipment is maintained during project implementation
  • Project reporting in WAVE and Maximo.
  • Coordinate the development of all necessary documentation for commissioning, training, maintenance and maintain all records required by legislation and policies.
  • Coordinate and provide direction to contractors.
  • Work together with the procurement team on project needs, as well as with the accounting team on budget and expenditure
  • Setting up project structure and project steering committee according project governance guidelines.
  • Takes an active role in managing the maintenance team and coaching employees to reach their fullest potential by providing feedback in a manner that is effective, consistent and fair.
Job Requirements
  • A recognized engineering qualification with time served electrical and mechanical knowledge or ideally degree level in field of Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Production Manufacturing, or another related field.
  • Experience/Leadership of Reliability Centered Maintenance processes.
  • Strong experience preferably in a food, feed or chemical production environment.
  • Strong experience in the management or supervision of a maintenance department incorporating Safety & Health, Environmental, Quality, Production and Project management.
  • Proficient in asset management techniques
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft applications & asset management software
  • Strong problem solving, diagnostic and analytical skills, with a results focused approach.
  • Strong communication skills and an excellent team player
  • Thorough knowledge of machinery, with prior experience in instrumentation and electrical equipment.
  • Ability to move throughout the facility, including climbing stairs, ladders in all buildings, and to work at heights
  • Work is performed indoors and out-of-doors year-round, occasionally in environments that are dusty, noisy, or which could have work hazards

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$92,800.00 - $173,500.00

Salaried Incentive Plan

The total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus and a long-term incentive plan
