Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent for the Prosperity plywood facility. You will lead a maintenance team to sustain a safe, SIF-free continuous manufacturing environment, driving improvements across maintenance, EHS, reliability, and production metrics.

The role requires supervisory experience in manufacturing or military settings, CMMS proficiency, and strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on repair and alignment skills.

Qualifications

• 2 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or military environments.
• 2 years of maintenance scheduling/planning experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Basic mechanical knowledge including welding/cutting, chain repair, hydraulic systems.
• Precision maintenance experience (laser alignment, belt/chain tension, torque specs).
• Willing to adhere to safety rules and wear PPE.

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent for our Plywood facility in Prosperity, South Carolina. The Maintenance Superintendent will assist in leading the maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be a self-driven individual with a passion for excellence in safety, manufacturing, and customer focus. You will drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability. You will also work to proactively identify hazards and implement appropriate mitigating strategies based on the risks involved while monitoring the quality of work and providing guidance to the team. This role will provide critical input to the management team and influence others, while positively impacting the organization.

What You Will Do

• Lead a plywood maintenance team to safely work in a SIF-free, continuous manufacturing environment consistent with our PBM® Philosophy while meeting facility goals and vision.
• Supervise/coordinate maintenance efforts that drive improvement in all associated work processes affecting EHS, compliance, reliability, quality, production, and costs
• Support the production processes to align and optimize the manufacturing enterprise in delivering value to the business
• Facilitate team development and growth, employee skill development, as well as problem-solving and resolution
• Drive safety excellence and compliance through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively identify hazards and implement the appropriate mitigating strategies based on the risk involved
• Monitor the quality of craft work and provide direction to crew members to maximize efficiency
• Assist with troubleshooting production issues
• Provide safety training to crew members
• Data entry and completing/generating reports
• Align contractors with GP maintenance standards, manage as needed on projects, repairs and upgrades

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• 2 years of supervisory experience preferably in a manufacturing environment or a military environment
• 2 years of prior maintenance scheduling/planning experience in a manufacturing environment
• Working knowledge and experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Basic mechanical knowledge, Welding/cutting experience, chain repair, hydraulic system repair/rebuild, Ability to read structural blueprints and hydraulic schematics
• Precision maintenance experience & training (laser alignment, belt/chain tension, torque specs, etc.)
• Must be willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations including wearing safety equipment

What Will Put You Ahead

• Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing operations equipment for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues
• Experience within the Plywood industry
• Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mobile equipment, and operating
• Machine shop (tool and die) and fabrication experience
• Industrial maintenance, engineering degree or related certificates
